Our vision is to be a center of excellence for generating, synthesizing, and translating public health and biomedical evidence to foster improved health outcomes in Ethiopia.
Mission
- Create a robust regional framework that continuously collects, archives, and disseminates all available health and health-related research, surveillance, and routine data within the region.
- Efficiently manage and process data, synthesizing health-related evidence from local and international research institutions and individual researchers to inform public health initiatives.
- Employ rigorous scientific methodologies to measure population health and monitor health progress, ensuring timely delivery of quality evidence that supports health policies and programs across Ethiopia.
- Guarantee the secure storage and ethical sharing of research, surveillance, and routine data, in alignment with both local and international ethical guidelines, principles, and recommendations to ensure the reliability of evidence in informing public health policies.
Strategies
- Enhance skills in data management and data science among public health institutions and key collaborators to strengthen research capabilities in the region.
- Develop extensive databases to generate relevant data and robust evidence, improving data availability and accessibility for stakeholders.
- Build and enhance partnerships with local and international organizations to foster knowledge-sharing and collaborative research initiatives.
- Promote the utilization of gathered evidence in health decision-making processes at both national and subnational levels, ensuring that policy decisions are backed by reliable data.
About SERPHI
South Ethiopia Region Public Health Institute(SERPHI) is established by the council of South Ethiopia Regional State under Decree as of 27/2016. The institute is accountable for the regional health bereau.
