The Southern Ethiopia Regional Health Bureau is holding a forum for leadership and health extension professionals focused on the implementation of the health extension program road map in Arbaminch city.

There is a movement that focuses on the implementation of the health extension program map in Arbaminch city where more than 1,500 health extension professionals from all zones of the region have participated.

Mr. Mena Mekuria, the deputy head of the regional health bureau, who started the stage of the movement, stated that since the health extension program was started, many results have come in the health sector.

Especially the results recorded in maternal and infant deaths, family assessment services, births in health institutions, disease prevention and others are very high.

Mr. Mekuria Aklewum pointed out that the main aim of the health extension program map is to focus on infrastructure and filling of professionals to strengthen the service of health centers.

The deputy and head of the health bureau and the director of the Institute of Public Health Mr. Agune Ashole has pointed out that health extension professionals are the backbone of the health sector.

Mr. Agune Aklewum pointed out that the health extension service has played a major role in the region for the results recorded in the health sector. He also pointed out that there is no epidemic disease in the region except plague due to the work done.

The forum will continue in the days starting from today and members of the regional health bureau management, health leaders from all zones and health extension professionals are participating.
