Southern Ethiopia Regional Health Bureau Public Health Institute in collaboration with Regional Health Bureau has held a 17th week Public Health Emergency Coordination Center (EOC) discussion. The diseases reported under the week’s colonization such as plague and food shortage; related to information quality and relevance of the report, for the upcoming coordinated. Vaccination campaign as well as epidemic response, especially in comparison to the plague epidemic, a wide report has been presented and ideas have been given.
Deputy head of the regional health bureau and head of health programs Mr. Mena Mekuria in his message pointed out that it is important to prevent food shortages that may occur due to the current situation and realized that the research work should continue stronger than ever.
Mr. Mena’s concern is that in the upcoming integrated vaccination campaign, Gonlegon should take advantage of the activities that should be done in a quality way and in order to do this, it should be carefully guided from preparation to implementation.
They have emphasized that the prevention and control efforts to sustain the spread of mosquitoes should continue strongly and the stakeholders at every stage should pay special attention to the issue and work in harmony.
Mr. Mintesnot Melka, the vice director of the regional institute of public health has pointed out that there will be a cold chain inspection and maintenance before the start of the integrated vaccination campaign.
The vice director stated that community participation and ownership is the main thing to prevent the spread of mosquitoes. In order to achieve this, communication and community movement activities should be carried out carefully.
Finally, the meeting of the public health emergencies co-ordination center has ended by making an action schedule on the activities that should be done during the week.
